Real Issues-Real Answers: The Four Awful “A”s…anger, anxiety, abuse, addiction
You may not realize it and you may not ever feel it but you have the potential to make a profound difference. You have the power to change the world. But life has a way of reminding us that we are fragile, insignificant and powerless. Giving too much attention or thought to any aspect of life can throw us into depression and confusion. We become paralyzed by fear because there are too many unknowns, threats or risks.
Faith is the opposite of fear. Fear pulls us down, sucks the life from us and makes us very weak and tired. Faith revitalizes our strength and renews our hope in God who then provides encouragement and empowerment to accomplish amazing things. Faith makes all things possible.
Who is granted the kind of faith that moves mountains and parts Red Seas? Do we today have the power to be do something earth shattering?
God uses the weak, hopeless, powerless and faithless to accomplish mighty works. When looking at the characteristics from the people in the Bible, we can all begin to believe that we qualify too. Second Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…” God is looking for someone who is willing to listen, talk back and move ahead…
• Moses turned to see the bush burning and then heard the Lord. Moses asked many questions and then moved ahead with God’s plan.
• Samuel heard the Lord and answered quickly that he was available and willing to listening.
• Gideon questioned God’s ability to save Israel and made excuses for himself. After much testing, he was used by God in a mighty way with minimal means and man power.
• Daniel earnestly sought the Lord for the interpretation of a dream which led to understanding spiritually discerned messages with prophetic instruction that continues to impact us today.
How do we respond to the call of God? Through all the busyness, distraction, fear and negativity, how do we break the bad habits and patterns that have brought on the fear to live in faith in the everyday life? At some point, we get tired of the right answers and the amazing Bible heroes and just need real answers to get through the day.
After writing and teaching Bible studies to women for 10 years, we have found that women are looking for real life application. A friend of ours asked, “Can you stop using the real life applications as illustrations for the Bible passages and instead teach the real life application using the Bible verses as illustrations? After much prayer, we decided to address the 4 deadly “D”s: debt, death, divorce and depression. The testimonies were amazing as women from all over San Diego County thanked us for providing real life application like L.J. who said, “This has been the most meaningful 4 sessions of my life. Thank you Bobbye and Tonilee. Thank you!” Now, one year later, we are back addressing the awful “A”s: anger, anxiety, abuse and addiction.
The format is an open, honest, out-of-the-box series designed to deal with the real life issues that women are facing today. We are taught, told and even traumatized by all of the right things we should do. Many of us already know the right answers and can articulate them quite clearly to ourselves and to others. How nice! But, how often are we told the real answers, especially as Christians. Does God give us the right answers or the real answers? How are we to know the difference? The bottom line for us as women: we need to find peace; we need to see positive changes; and we need to find the freedom to go forward, not to remain in fear, doubt and confusion.
No resistance from hell or distraction on earth can stop the work of God in your life if you are willing to firmly plant your feet, seek the truth and respond to His call. No matter how physical the spiritual realm may become, all things are possible when we hold His ways higher than our own. Come join us for a series that can truly set you free.
